Meet Jennifer & Matthew.

This sweet couple had been together
almost a decade before saying 'I do!"
and everyone was so thrilled for them!
​I had the honour of planning and coordinating their special day. 
​ 
They had a beautiful vintage style wedding with a blush pink, pearl and gold palette. Floral centerpieces boasted full hydrangea, roses and babies breath in vintage (read: bride went to antique stores!) mason jars. They also LOVE Coke! So of course, it was given away in the classic Coca Cola bottles to each guest.

What can I say about this beautiful couple? We journeyed for a year planning their special day, and every detail came to life as we had all dreamed!

Nicole & Allan had a black tie formal affair. This summer wedding showcased beautiful full hydrangea arrangements, with champagne and purple accents covering the venues. From the invitations to the favours, their vision of elegance was found in every single detail, and it was my pleasure to  make it come to life!

Here is what Nicole had to say, which really touched my heart!

"I'll never be able to explain how important Marielle was for me on the wedding day and the entire year of planning leading up to it. She was one of the main reasons I came out in one piece. She worked around my crazy schedule, kept me calm when I would get overwhelmed and helped me articulate what I liked and didn't like. I valued her opinion and realized early on she had impeccable taste and an attention to detail that is second to none...

​...I got to spend the day having fun and enjoying myself. I absolutely love her for that. There are so many things she did that went above and beyond what I thought a wedding planner to be. She skyped me in on an appointment with the decorator so I could see centrepieces and tables when I wasn't able to attend at the last minute. She patiently supported me when I changed the colours of the wedding over and over again and when I couldn't decide on paper for the invitations until the very last minute. And as I sat in the limo right before the ceremony she was the one I trusted to secure my veil and touch up my make up because I knew she cared just as much as I did about my day being perfect. Without her I wouldn't have been able to plan my dream wedding, and what I realize now and remember most, is how much fun she made it for me and how reassuring it was knowing she was in it with me, making it special and perfect. I can't thank her enough and just hope she'll still be planning weddings when my daughters are ready. :) "

On a beautiful June day, Mandy married the man of her dreams! I had the privilege of getting her and her family ready for the big day! 

The Simpson ladies love dramatic, smokey makeup that accentuate their already beautiful features. Here are a few pictures of my work on that special day.

Not too long ago, I was asked to contribute a piece to Canadian Living Online about planning a late-summer picnic. So I thought I would share bits and pieces of it with you. So let's jump in!

One of the best ways to make the most of summer is to treat your partner to a romantic outdoor picnic. It's not too late; grab your sweetie and follow my easy steps to a simple but memorable meal alfresco.
Your picnic may just be for two, but it can make a big impression. All you need is a clear vision, a bit of imagination and a few fun props. 

Here are some ideas to help make your romantic picnic a special experience. From a sunrise breakfast on the beach to an evening rooftop dinner in the city, the possibilities are endless.

1. Have a vision in mind
Do you want a morning, afternoon or evening picnic? How much privacy do you want? The time of day you choose for your picnic is dependent on you and your partner's schedules of course, but be sure to consider whether your partner is a morning person or someone who prefers a lingering dinner to a hearty brunch. Also, keep in mind that an evening picnic is better for privacy -- based on the fact that it will be darker -- and you can create your own ambiance. 

2. Stage a spontaneous setup
If you want to boost the romance and excitement factor, surprise your partner. One way to do this is to set up a scavenger hunt leading your significant other to the picnic. 

Hide frames containing clues in random places, tie notes to tree branches and use pretty paper to make it that much more special. Making a trail for your partner to follow can take on various forms as well: You can use fresh flowers, puzzle pieces that create a picture or even letters that spell out a clue in a word or phrase. Anticipation and a playful feeling of mystery will build with each clue until the surprise is revealed. 

3. Arrange a simple yet romantic scene
A few minimal decor items arranged in the right way can go a long way in creating an intimate setting. The three main props needed are a beautiful blanket, fresh flowers and lanterns for candles. These items instantly create an atmosphere that says, ‘I thought this out.'You'll also be amazed at the difference nice plates and napkins make to the overall atmosphere. A picnic for two is all about showing your partner you care. The more creative personal touches you add, the better.

4. Pack a basket with seasonal, easy-to-eat fare
.Choose easy to eat items with minimal assembly or cutlery required. Essentially, you want finger foods that are delicious and also romantic. A baguette and cheese are always winners. Strawberries and chocolate dip is always a romantic item as well. 

Don't forget staples like veggies and hummus, cold cuts, and canned or bottled drinks for ease of transport. Summer-fresh and sharable finger foods make a picnic more fun, but make sure you have a balance of substantial snacks and tasty treats. You don't want to have to hike back home feeling hungry. 

5. Have the option to take part in an activity
If you want to include an extra component to your picnic, think of some activities you can add to the agenda. For the outdoorsy type, hiking, horseback riding, tandem biking and canoeing are very romantic activities to do as a couple. Taking a nice stroll in the area surrounding your picnic and stopping for a game of Frisbee is also a nice addition to prolong the date together.

Picnics are a great way to spend time with your partner in the summer as well as introduce some spontaneity into your dates. Keep in mind that the beauty of a picnic lies in its simplicity; the outdoor setting has already done most of the work for you. Taking in a beautiful view or gazing at the stars makes any alfresco meal that much more romantic – but a few personal touches can make it really special!
